Yellow Rice

Serves 2

Spice up a side serving of rice with a little bit of turmeric and garlic. It’s so easy!


  • 120g basmati rice, rinsed under cold water
  • Half tsp turmeric
  • Half tsp garlic powder
  • 360ml chicken stock
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cardamom pods, lightly crushed (optional)


Add the chicken stock to a suitable saucepan and bring to the boil.

Then add the rice, followed by the cardamom pods (optional), spices and a large pinch of salt and stir well.

Drop to a very low heat and put the lid on the saucepan to cook for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, drain the excess water from the saucepan, using the lid to keep the rice in the saucepan.

Put the lid back on and put aside to steam for a few minutes.

It’s ready to serve.
